Panama case hearing continued on 2nd day (Tuesday) where Nawaz Sharif lawyer continued his arguments. He said that JIT report is based on falsified and non authorized documents and court should not depend on those documents for the final decision. He also urged to open the 10th copy of JIT report for public which has been hidden from public until now.
According to Pakistan News Center reporter Justice Ijazul Ahsan said that PM & his family did not produced much evidences in front of JIT and were reluctant to share any details. Most of answers are “we don’t know”, “I did not read that” “it might be ok” and similar one. The court is waiting for money trial from day one but has not yet been provide any authentic proof of that. The Nawaz Sharif did not gave anything yet.
PM did not answer anything about London Flats, their ownership and who was living there in various periods. Who is their beneficiary owner and who was paying the rents.
Nawaz’s lawyer Harris said that JIT documents have no legal value. In reply court said that it will not based its decision on JIT documents instead it will rely on proofs and arguments from different lawyer.
Sharif family lawyer said that Nawaz Sharif has separate apart from family business in 2007 and his sons are holding his business. He had declared everything in his tax returns. Justice Ejaz Ahsan said that PM still involved in the business and visited London Flats many times but did not know who owns them.
Justice Azmat Saeed said quoting Harris that you can make objections to JIT report only if you produce evidence against those objections.
Speaking on JIT report recommendation of opening other Hudaibiya papers mill case & other 15 cases, Harris said that JIT did not have mandate of doing so as most of cases are already decided or pending court decision.
Justice Azmat Saeed pointing on NAB that it did not done anything on those cases and they are still in process after 15 years in courts.
Justice Ejaz Afzal said that any case can be opened in link to current case as those investigations will clarify the Panama case in more detail. Sharif’s lawyer still insisted they should not be opened.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) lead counsel Naeem Bokhari, speaking outside the court on Tuesday, said that the party “respects the SC and will accept its decision”.
Naeem Bokhari PTI’s lawyer in court said that they will respect SC decision. He said that they will wait for court decision before pressurizing PM to resign.
PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that volume 10 or volume X can open more proofs against PM Nawaz Sharif and they are happy if that volume is also opened. He said that Nawaz Sharif & their lawyer did not deny Calibri font issue yet and were only giving different views over it as it was confirmed by the international media and IT experts as well.
