Islamabad High Court has banned valentine day on state level and prohibited the media to advertise it. The court ordered the Government to take strict measures to counter any such activity.
The issue was raised by Islamabad citizen Abdul Waheed stating that its the event of non Muslims and its not good for our society to get in to such things. He said that media as well as shopping malls/markets are preparing for this day and selling material as well as arranging different programs for valentine which should be stopped.
The court in its decision ordered PEMRA to prevent media from portraying valientine in any format. This is first time such issue is raised in the court. Court also advised PTA & Islamabad officials to respond within 10 days.
