NAB Summons Khaqan Abbasi Over LNG Case

The expected interim minister Khaqan Abbasi might face NAB enquiry of LNG case that has 220 billion corruption. He is the former minister of Petroleum & Natural Resources and was main accused in LNG import case.

After Nawaz Sharif disqualification PMLN has nominated Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for the interim Prime Minister and decided to appoint Shahbaz Sharif as Prime Minister . Interim Prime Minister will be acting Prime Minister for 45 days. Abassi is expected because PMLN has majority in legislative assembly.

According to NAB LNG import quota was awarded to a company called Elengy Terminal a sub company of Engro in 2013 while ignoring PPRA standards and regulations.  The case was registered in July 2015 however the case was dumped as NAB did not opened or processed any case from last 2 years.

The bureau registered the case on July 29, 2015 but it is still in the inquiry stage, contrary to NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry’s claim that he has introduced a new strategy under which the process of complaint verification, inquiry, investigation and filing of reference took 10 months.

It appears that like several cases of the Sharif family, this one has also been dumped by NAB.

The case was registered by Shahid Sattar a former member of SSCG. He accused the Shahid Khaqan Abbassi for 2 billion loss of national treasury.

The case has been opened again and in limelight because of his interim Prime Minister nomination. Sheikh Rasheed said he will file a court petition about NAB proceedings on LNPG case.
